Garden of Hope

Last week we talked about the Field of Dreams; this week it's the Garden of Hope!

What are we hoping for?  I think we all can agree that we hope to live life to its fullest, in a state of vitality and health!

It seems that we treat this "hope" as something dim...something that chance can just take away, and can only be granted to us by luck.  We pray for God to heal us, without even realizing that we've already been given what we need to heal.  One of those things is our food!

In the beginning when food first appeared on this planet, it was obviously quite good, or else we would not still be around after all of these years.

There is a system to Life, and it has and always will work.  We can use knowledge of nature to improve our lives, but to use knowledge  of nature in order to change how it works is just ... well...DUMB!  And it's quite arrogant and short-sited, as well!

I could give so many examples of this that it's hard to know where to begin.  That's why we'll be revisiting the topic of food again and again.  Our food is meant to be our nourishment.  It is meant to be our medicine, too.  Our food is the physical substance we take into our body to heal our actual cells!

More money is spent on medical care per person than in any other country in the world!  I find this especially shocking when you also consider that the U.S. spends less on food than any other nation worldwide.  We constantly seek cheaper and cheaper food when our healing needs are so obviously great.  Too many people don't make the mental connection between food and health.

People are so used to the idea of chemical drugs nowadays that they forget there has always been a system for wellness in place!  How long have we been on Earth as compared to how long they've been making all of these drugs?  The vaccines, the shots, the pills, the perscriptions, the DRUGS...with side effects...side effects...side effects.  It's the nature of drugs to have side effects.  Always.  Even if you don't feel them,, they're there.  The Physicians Desk Reference is a very large book which the medical community uses as a reference to drugs, and EVERY single one  of them carry negative side effects.  There is a reason for this.

The reason for this is that drugs work to "fix" a problem by "fixing" the symptoms, and by taking over the body in order to do so.  They change the way that the body acts.  The drug acts as an outside force.  It's a simple law of physics that when force is applied there is going to be a reaction.

Nature does not work with such force, except of course in instances such as t
ornadoes, hurricanes, fires, and other natural "disasters," which are also part of the whole system of renewal on Earth.  (I wouldn't want to be in one, though...just like I don't want the cyclone of side effects created by drugs!)

Nature's medicine works with the body instead of trying to subdue it.  It works with (rather than against) the symptoms to help clear them out naturally and to help the body in gaining it's natural strength.  Food nourishes us to give us our strength.  Food gives us the elements we need in our body to keep us working correctly with all of our systems in balance.  Of course exercise and other factors come into play, but they're all a part of the system, as well.  But as to the purpose of what we eat, it is to nourish our physical bodies and give us our strength.

Taking mineral pills does not do the trick.  Mineral pills are usually nothing more than elements directly from the Earth, but they are still unnatural to take in a pill form, because we aren't supposed to eat rocks and dirt.  This is not natural to us!  We are supposed to get our minerals
from the Earth, yes, but after a plant has predigested it for us and transformed it into something which our bodies can use!  Plants are meant to be food...not dirt.  It's just as simple as that.

It's okay to take supplements, yes, but get them in their natural form!  Plants are meant to be food, and our nutrients should come from them.

Vitamins need to contain the plant's vitality...hence the name.  That can't be manufactured in a chemistry lab...it can't be copied...it can't be faked.  The vitality of a plant needs to come from the plant, in a state when the plant is still vital.  Local and raw are the absolute best for achieving this goal.  Another important way is to get them in herbs.

Herbs are food.  Herbs are wonderful supplements to use, and they should ideally be used from your yard or garden for use on the table, in tea, and in supplement or medicine form.  They have value beyond what we understand.

Use whole herbs, though, meaning if you use the stem, use the whole stem and not a particular component which comes from the stem.  Don't isolate plant parts from other plant parts or you'll end up with nothing more than a drug, with side effects, even though it comes from a plant.  If you use the leaf, then use the whole leaf!  Don't deconstruct the chemical make up of the whole plant is what I'm trying to say.  It was made like it was made because that was the very best way!

Herbs are most definitely food, and they are very powerfu
l medicine, too.  In daily use they work to nourish the body so that the body can work as it was designed.
"And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. " (Genesis 1:29)
We should include herbs in our diet on a daily basis, as a main food source, not just a little bit of something that's sprinkled on for flavor alone.  Also, make sure that the herbs which you use are grown and processed in such a manner so as to not interfere with their potency.  Most commercially bought herbs, if not organic, have been irradiated and therefore all of their power to heal has been destroyed.  This is very important to know.  Because herbs are extremely important to health!!!

When we use them in a targeted fashion to address health concerns, they are very powerful medicine, too.  Herbs can be directed towards any malady a person (or animal) can have, and if properly applied they can heal anything.  Historical use proves this out.

We are growing a garden here as a part of our church.  It will have so man
y wonderful kinds of food for us all to eat, and many useful herbs we can put to work.  I envision it producing beautiful and bountiful garden here at our center, which will be enjoyed and cherished by everyone who takes part in what we're trying to build here at Essentials of Life.  We want to include everyone...teach everyone who wants to learn.  We want to have groups, classes and other types of learning experiences...and to create a place where we can all roll up our sleeves and dig in!

We are creating a garden with fruits...what are they good for?  Vegetables...what are they good for, too?  And herbs...beautiful herbs...Let's learn together what they're good for, too.

If you can't come here to join in our learning and healing garden of hope, then just go on and
try this at home.  Gardening can help you feel closer to God, because it brings you closer to the circle of life.

Grow organically, so you're not adding a synthetic burden to your crops and more impo
rtantly, to you.  It's easier, more beneficial and more effective than you probably realize.  Gardening can be accomplished in so many productive and easy ways!  Grow in raised beds, in pots, on fence posts and hanging bags!  You'd be surprised how many beautiful plants can be cultivated to eat!  Flowers, even.  Flowers have a wonderful place in our diet.  I even put edible flowers on my wedding cake!

Start planning your garden today, and realize that if we eat foods rich in vitality, then seeing as how we are what we eat, then we will be filled with vitality, too!  This is a good place to start realizing our optimal health.  It's according to Original and Perfect Design!

As a doctor of naturopathy, people have asked me so many times what they can use to fix this or fix that.  They want me to tell them which herb.  Well, I can tell them "which herb," but that is not a very good answer.  It might give fast results, or then again, it may give results very slowly, depending upon the condition and on the herb, but it will give quite good results. Even so, the best answer is that herb and another herb and herbs on a daily basis, and fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, raw, and raw nuts and seeds and fresh raw juice.  The answer is also to include lots of fresh water, fresh air, and a fresh way of looking at life!  The best answer is to live a life close to God the Father, and to our sweet Mother Earth.

With this in mind, we dedicate our Garden of Hope here at Essentials of Life Holistic Enrichment Center, and we encourage you to create a garden of hope for yourself at home, even if just a windowsill pot.  Let the garden be a reminder that what we need to live healthy is always so simple...there is such healing power in God's Love for us.  This is why we were given such glorious food for our physical strength and well-being, so we can carry on our work in this world.

Look at what God planted for us!  Just as the Physicians Desk Reference lists negative side effects for every single pharmaceutical drug, so can you find if you research the topic, that there is a healthful benefit to each and every bit of food that God made for our good...Food that springs forth from the earth like a gift!  In this let there be hope that the answers to healing are present and available to you.  Healing energy abounds.

Thank you for visiting us here online.  If you would like to be more involved with the work that we're doing here, please email us at eolhec@aol.com. There is a lot going on with us here, and we could use help in many areas to become established.  Please let us know if you'd like to help.

Blessings to you and to yours for a wonder-filled week!  God's got good things in store for you, so be sure and look for it in everything!!!
